How to make a Composite Card

-You don't have to have professional pictures to make a composite card. You can take non-professional photos and order composites from an online company with a simple template – take care that the company understands that you don’t want a lot of graphics and extra bells and whistles, because a simple, clean composite is best.

The key to making a great composite is to have photos that are up close and in-focus. Also, you need to have is a variety of backgrounds, positions, etc. They do not have to be professional – modeling agencies actually PREFER non-professional pictures at first. Then, when they represent you they may request for you get professional photos done at that time.

-Usually comp cards are double sided. the front side will have a headshot with a smile, and the back side will have four more shots

1) Another Headshot-close up (focused)

2) Shoulders up

3) Waist up

4) Body shot includes all of you

Also make sure that you have different poses, with

smile and without smiles

-Another great idea is copying and pasting your pictures

into "Paint" on your computer and making your own

composite cards. They have borders, text, and so much

more to make your own.

- If you’re selecting photos for a baby or toddler, you can be holding the hand

of the child but you should not actually be in the photo. There shouldn’t be any

other siblings or family/friends in the photos either. If you get a choice of one

to four photos on the back, take a look at how many great photos you have. If

you are confident with all four, that’s great, but if there is one really good one

and the rest are just ok, then go with the one good one. Better to leave them

wanting more!

More on the back shots: If you are selecting shots for an older child, they

should be ones of personality and “action.” Select photos where they are

walking, dancing, playing, etc. but not too many looking away from the

camera. Have a nice selection of action shots, still shots, and different

cropping of the body. Mostly, the key is to have clear shots where you can see

what the child looks like easily.
