RESUME
1) Beginning
-You can make a resume even if your child has not done any professional work. Just delete the categories “Film, Television, Commercials” and focus on the “Theatre, Training and Special Skills” sections.
2) Different types of Categories:
-THEATRE Category: If you child has been on stage in any way for a school production, list it under “Theatre” and put the name of the school theatre (as opposed to the name of the school) on the resume.
-TRAINING Category: This is a section for dance classes, voice lessons, acting camp, etc. – anything that constitutes the training of a special skill that can be applied to acting, singing and/or dance. Obviously, the older they are the more they will be involved so you will have to be more selective with this category, but if you sit down and list the types of things your son/daughter has been involved in with school alone, you may be surprised.
-SPECIAL SKILLS Category: This is a section where EVERYONE will have something to list! You can put down anything from your child being a good swimmer to hobbies he/she likes to do, and descriptions of their personality as well. If you don’t have anything specific, you can be more general here, for example, descriptions such as “athletic,” or “outgoing personality,” etc. are very appropriate here.
3) SUMMARY:
-If you do not have anything to put under any category, do not list the category.
- -Do not put too many “training” items on this category, too much training and not enough roles booked is not a good impression. -Make “Special Skills” about personality also -Constantly update photos to keep relevant -Use Spell Check to avoid simple mistakes. -Phone number is a must so industry professionals can contact you immediately!
